FIBT takes revolutionary step: Four-man bobsleigh opened for female and mixed-gender teams
(RWH/FIBTpress) At its last Executive Committee Meeting the FIBT (Féderation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing), world
governing body for Bobsleigh and Skeleton, decided that the four-man bobsleigh competition will be opened for mixed gender and female teams. “We follow the spirit and movements of our time. There is a strong belief in the FIBT that men and women can compete together in 4-man. Therefore the Executive Committee decided to support equal opportunities for men and women in that discipline“, said FIBT president Ivo Ferriani.
One of the most prominent athletes in women´s bobsleigh, Canadian Kaillie Humphries (two-time Olympic Gold Medallist – 2010 and 2014), has already declared her strong desire to pilot a four-man bobsleigh pushed by three male team–mates in the upcoming season.
