What looked to be a Russian win was undone at the very bottom of the doubles run of the Team Relay, handing the win to Germany.
The doubles team of Bogdanov & Medvedev took over a .6 second lead into the final run, but trouble in the final sector of the Latvian track dropped the Russians to a bronze medal.
Sitting in waiting was the German team of Hüfner, Loch, and Wendl & Arlt. They took gold ahead of the Latvian team sliding on home ice.
Fourth and fifth went to the United States and Canada, respectively.
