2016/2017 IBSF Parasport World Cup – Skeleton – Race 2

From Park City, USA

The second race of the IBSF 2016/2017 para-skeleton season saw a familiar face atop the podium for the first time of this early season, with American World Champion Eric Eierdam taking gold with relative ease over the field.

Eierdam was the fastest slider in both heats, and the only one below 54 seconds. The win is his first on the season, and third World Cup win in the past two seasons.

In the second heat, American Ryan Gautieri put down a very quick second run (second only to Eierdam), putting the pressure on British slider Matthew Richardson. Richardson was quicker than Gautieri most of the way down on his second run, but had trouble late, handing the silver medal to the American. Richardson’s run was gold enough to hold on for the bronze medal.

Australians Brendan Dover and Jason Lettice finished fourth and fifth, with Americans Bill Sheppard and Jeffrey Lampe rounding out the seven slider field.
