From Kühtai, AUT
To start the 2015/2016 season, Tina Unterberger won her only race on her home slopes of Austria in the Kühtai parallel race. To kick off the 2016/2017 season, she repeated as parallel race champion.
Unterberger and Italian Greta Pinggera met in the final race of the 16 woman field, with the Austrian edging the Italian to win gold in her home nation for the second consecutive year. Pinggera’s silver medal was one position higher than her 2015 event finish of bronze.
In the bronze medal race, 2015 silver medalist Italian Evelin Lanthaler beat Michelle Diepold of Austria, while Diepold’s teammate Sara Bachman finished in fifth, for an Austrian/Italian sweep of the top five.
