2016/2017 FIL Natural Track World Cup – Doubles Luge – Race 1

From Kühtai, AUT

The team of Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara was perfect for the 2015/2016 season, sweeping the season in doubles competition. In the opener in Kühtai, the Italians showed the same gold medal form they had all last season.

The Italians dominated the doubles races, with the only real competition coming in the gold medal round against Austrians Christian Schopf & Andreas Schopf. In the end, Pigneter & Clara pulled away to win their 11th straight World Cup race. Their current win streak stretches back to Laas in January of 2015.

In the bronze medal race, the Russian team of Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev beat Austrians Rupert Brueggler & Tobias Angerer.
