Results from the sixth IBSF Intercontinental Cup men’s skeleton race, held January 13, 2017.
Pavel Kulikov won gold in the sixth installment of the 2016/2017 IBSF Intercontinental Cup men’s skeleton race, edging Canadian Evan Neufeldt for gold.
The Russian came into the second heat just .06 off the first run pace set by Neufeldt. Kulikov matched his first run start on his second trip down, setting the fastest time of the race.
On Neufeldt’s final trip down, he could only muster the third fastest time, dropping him one spot to second and a silver medal in Calgary, just .06 behind Kulikov.
The previous day’s winner, Egor Veselov, finished with a bronze medal, only .06 ahead of fourth place Kenny Howard of Great Britain. Joseph Luke Cecchini and Vladislav Marchenkov finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Michael Rogals once again set the fast time for the United States with the tenth fastest run in each heat to finish tenth. Teammates Kyle Brown and Greg West finished 12th and 20th, respectively.
Jeremy Rice came into the second run in fifth place, looking to put two British sliders in the top five. He struggled on his second run, dropping to eighth overall. His teammate, Marcus Wyatt, finished 11th to round out another good day for Great Britain.
Patrick Rooney and Paul Fraser rounded out the effort for Canada with 13th and 15th place finishes, respectively.
