2016/2017 FIL Natural Track World Cup – Doubles Luge – Race 4

From Zelezniki, SLO

The losing streak lasted two races, but Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara regained their form and won in Zelezniki.

The Italians, who came into the race having lost two races in a row for the first time in three years, dominated in both heats, finishing over two seconds ahead of the field.

Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev of Russia came into the second run already .85 behind the Italians, but well ahead of Christian & Andreas Schopf of Austria, who were in third. The Austrians were much better in their second run and put pressure on the Russians. Porshnev & Lazarev struggled on their second run, but had enough of a cushion from the first heat to hold on to silver. Schopf & Schopf finished with a bronze.
