2016/2017 IBSF Parasport World Cup – Bobsled – Race 5

From Oberhof, GER

Much like their World Cup teammates, the Latvian para-bobsled team has picked up the pace over the second half of the season.

Lauris Zutis and Arturs Klots came into the second heat in Oberhof separated by just .09 seconds. Klots put down a great second run to put the pressure on Zutis. Zutis, in turn, struggled (relatively speaking), giving up the lead and the gold medal to Klots.

Zutis finished second, while British slider Corie Mapp finished third.

Andreas Kapfinger finished fourth for Austria, ahead of Brian McPherson of Canada and Aaron Langingham of the United States.

Barry Schroeder helped put two American sleds in the top ten with his seventh plae finish, while Jason Sturm finished 11th, Dave Nicholls 13th and Dawn Macomber tied for 15th to round out the American effort.

Lonnie Bissonnette had trouble at the top in his first run, but cleaned it up on on his second trip down for a second-fastest run in the second heat and an overall finish of ninth.
