2017 FIL World Natural Track Championships – Doubles Luge

From Vatra Dornei, ROU

Rupert Brueggler & Tobias Angerer won the FIL World Championship for natural track luge in Vatra Dornei.

The 2015 World Championship silver medalists beat  2015 World and 2016 European champions Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara by a commanding .78, and the rest of the field by over a second.

The race was limited to one heat due to morning rain that canceled the first heat of what was supposed to be a two-heat race.

Russians Aleksey Martyanov & Ivan Rodan finished with a bronze medal, edging Austrians Christian and Andreas Schopf. Christoph Regensburger & Dominik Holzknecht helped put all three Austrian teams in the top five with their fifth place finishing, just ahead of Pavel Porschnev & Ivan Lazarev, who finished sixth.
