Johnson Wins First Career NAC Race

From Whistler, CAN

(Nov. 5, 2017) Julie Johnson won her first IBSF international race, taking home North American Cup gold.

The Canadian was dominant in the first heat, setting both the fast time of the race and the fast push of the race with brakewoman Alecia Beckford-Stewart. On her second run Johnson maintained a quick pace, only .06 off the pace of silver medalist Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian.

The win marks the third medal in as many races for Johnson, finishing the 2016/2017 season with a silver medal in Lake Placid before starting the 2017/2018 season with a bronze medal.

Fenlator-Victorian finished second, with her best finish since moving to the Jamaican team, while Seonhye Lee finished third.

Yooran Kim finished fourth, just ahead of Heather Paes of Brazil and Nicole Vogt of the United States.

Rachel Hauck and Kori Hol rounded out the Canadian effort in seventh and tenth, respectively.
