Furneaux, Crowley Give Great Britain EC 1-2

From Lillehammer, NOR

(Nov. 11, 2017) Eleanor Furneaux and Brogan Crowley led the charge in a strong showing for Great Britain, giving GBR their second gold medal of the day.

Matching the showing by men’s skeleton teammate Craig Thompson, Furneaux was strong across the board, setting the fastest start of the race and the two fastest runs of the race on her way to a .55 win over teammate Brogan Crowley.

The gold medal was the first in international competition for Furneaux, while the silver was a career best for Crowley.

France’s Agathe Bessard finished third, almost a full second back behind Crowley.

Hannah Stevenson just missed making it a British sweep of the podium, finishing fourth in the process. Russia’s Maria Surovtseva and Anastasia Trufanova finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Kellie Delka led the American effort with an 11th place finish, three spots ahead of teammate Leslie Stratton, who finished 14th.
