Germany Wins FIL Team Relay

From Innsbruck, GER

(Nov. 19, 2017) There are very few things you can count on in sliding sports, but Germany contending (and usually winning) a team relay in the FIL World Cup is one of them.

Germany once again flexed their collective relay muscle on the strength of a race-fastest women’s run, taking gold against a strong Canadian effort.

The Canadians, led by Alex Gough and a standout performance by the doubles team of Tristan Walker and Justin Snith, held off strong challenges by both Russia and the United States to hang on to a silver medal, while Russia edged the United States for bronze.

The race weekend in Igls couldn’t come to an end fast enough for the Americans, with a fourth place finish by far the best showing of the weekend for them. Latvia and Austria rounded out the top six.

Great Britain finished 13th.
