Italy Wins Natural Track Relay Finale

(Feb. 16, 2019) – Italy won its third relay of the season, cruising to a 1.04 second victory over Austria.

Both Evelin Lanthaler and Alex Gruber were the quickest of their respective legs of the relay, with only Patrick Pigneter being edged out by 2018/2019 World Cup champion Thomas Kammerlander by .23 seconds.

The only loss that Italy had suffered this season was to Kammerlander’s team in Winterleiten.

Austria finished second on the strength of Kammerlander’s run, while Russia finished well back in third. Germany, Ukraine, and Poland rounded out the top six.
