Latvia Goes 1-2 in Bludenz JWC

(January 19, 2023) – Viktorija Ziedina and Selina Svilna cruised to victory in Bludenz, beating out teammates Marta Robezniece and Kitija Bogdanova for the top spot on the podium.

Ziedina and Svilna had the fast start in both heats and put down the fastest two runs of the race on their way to a .163 second victory over teammates Robezniece and Bogdanova.

The gold for Ziedina and Zvilna were their second of the season, while Robezniece and Bogdanova’s silver was also their second.

Annika Krause and Magdalena Matschina of Germany finished third with the third quickest run in both heats.

Czechians Anna Cezikova and Lucie Jansova finished fourth, ahead of Polish sliders Niokola Domowicz and Dominika Piwkowska in fifth. Czechia put two teams in the top six with Marketa Novakova and Anna Vejdelkova in sixth.

With one race to go in the Junior World Cup season Ziedina and Svilna hold a 49 point lead over Robezniece and Bogdanova. The German team of Elisa-Marie Storch and Elia Reitmeier had trouble in their second run that put them down the order and likely out of the World Cup title contention. They sit third.
