From Deutschnofen, ITA

(January 29, 2023) – In the closest race of the weekend in Deutschnofen, Patrick Pigneter edged teammate Alex Gruber by just .01 to win his first gold of the singles season.

Gruber held the lead after the first heat by .16 over Thomas Kammerlander, with Pigneter in third, .25 back.

Florian Clara, Pigneter’s doubles teammate, finished fourth, just over a full second back. Michael Scheikl of Austria was .05 behind Clara in fifth. Daniel Gruber finished sixth.

USA’s Torrey Cookman finished a season-best 12th, one spot ahead of teammate Zane Farnsworth in a season-best 13th. Jacob Sterk rounded out the American effort in 19th.
