Semmler Wins Penultimate EC 4-man Race

From Winterberg, GER

(February 18, 2023) – Nico Semmler beat out USA’s Frank Del Duca and Romania’s Mihai Tentea in a one-heat race in Winterberg.

Del Duca’s team put down the quick start time in the race and took the lead from the fourth starting spot. Two sleds later, Semmler’s team set the second quickest start, with Semmler driving them into the lead.

Nobody else could come close to the German’s downtime, with his margin of victory over Del Duca .16. Tentea finished third, .3 out of gold.

Germany’s Laurin Zern finished fourth, .15 out of the medals, while Swiss pilot Timo Rohner and Austria’s Jacob Mandlbauer rounded out the top six.

Lichtenstein’s Martin Kranz, the under 23 World Champion in two-man bobsled, finished in tenth.
