Nolte Wins NAC Finale, Brzozowski Wins Season Title

From Lake Placid, USA

(March 27, 2023) – Laura Nolte finished a strong 2022/2023 IBSF season with a gold medal in the final North American Cup two-woman race of the season, beating out teammate Lisa Buckwitz for top honors.

Nolte and brakewoman Lena Neunecker set the quick time off the top in both heats. In their first run they took the lead from the sixth starting spot and ended the heat a half second ahead of Buckwitz and Marijana Herrmann.

In the second heat Buckwitz drove Germany into the lead with Nolte to go, guaranteeing the nation gold in the final race of the year. Nolte’s second drive was also the quickest of the heat, and enough to give her gold, with Buckwitz in the silver medal position.

USA’s Lauren Brzozowski and Sydney Milani had the third quickest push and third quickest slide in each heat on their way to a bronze medal. Duos Sylvia Hoffman and Eboni Birch and Kaysha Love and Rylie Matthews rounded out the five sled field.

Margot Boch and Riley Compton both did not start.

With her bronze medal, Lauren Brzozowski won the season two-woman title ahead of Viktoria Cernanska and Sylvia Hoffman. Brzozowski, Cernanska, and Hoffman also finished the season one-two-three in the combined monobob and two-woman rankings.
