(December 17, 2023) – Belgium’s Kelly van Petegem won her first Europe Cup gold medal in two-woman bobsled as she beat out Germany’s Diana Filipszki for the top spot on the podium.

Filipszki and brakewoman Marijana Herrmann led after the first heat by .18 over van Petegem and Jienity de Keler, with Germany’s Charlotte Candrix and Lena Brunnhubner in third.

In the second heat van Petegem drove to the lead with just Filipszki to go.

Filipszki and Hermann bettered their push by .03 and looked to have a victory secured. But big trouble late dropped them one spot back in second, with the Belgians taking the lead.

Candrix took third, .81 back.

Dutch sliders Loren Djolo and Robin Post finished fourth and fifth, while Italian Simona de Silvestro finished sixth.
