2015/2016 IBSF Para-Bobsled World Cup – Race 5

From Igls, AUT

The fifth race of the IBSF Para-Bobsled schedule saw Canadian Lonnie Bissonnette retake his place atop the leader board after a brief slump.

Bissonnette came into the second run in Igls in third place, just .05 behind Alvils Brants, but some trouble for Brants about 2/3 of the way down the Austrian track allowed Bissonnette to move to the top spot.

Great Britain’s Corie Mapp couldn’t score another gold medal despite going into the second run in the lead, trouble at the bottom of Igls gave him the 11th fastest run of the heat, and moved him to 10th overall. The result of that run gave Lonnie Bissonnette gold, Brants silver and Aaron Lanningham bronze.

It was another strong showing for the Americans, with Jason Sturm putting his sled in the top five with a fifth place finish, and Steven Jacobo finishing 8th. Mark Urquhart finished 4th for Australia.
