2015/2016 IBSF World Cup – Women’s Bobsled – Race 7

From St. Moritz, SUI

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Elana Meyers Taylor on a World Cup track, with the defending World Champion sitting out for half of the season coming back from concussion symptoms. She came back last week for European Cup action, winning in St. Moritz, and looked to do the same on the same track in World Cup action.

Meyers Taylor was uncharacteristically outpushed by German Anja Schneiderheinze, but the American out-drove the field, setting the course record to take gold ahead of Schneiderheinze by a substantial margin. Schneiderheinze took silver, just ahead of Kaillie Humphries, who took bronze for Canada.

Jamie Greubel Poser came into the second run in third, but couldn’t find the pace that Humphries set, falling back to fourth, while Elfje Willemsen finished fifth and Stephanie Schneider sixth.

In the European Championships, Schneiderheinze took gold, Willemsen silver, and Schneider bronze.

Katie Eberling scored a top-ten finish in ninith in her World Cup debut as a pilot, while Mica McNeill finished 11th for Great Britain.
