2016 IBSF World Championships – Women’s Bobsled – Runs 1 & 2

From Igls, AUT

After the first two of four runs in Igls, German Anja Schneiderheinze has over a .3 advantage over Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries. The Canadian put down the second fastest run in the second heat, but was still well behind Schneiderheinze, who set a track record in Run 1 (52.94).

Third place after two runs belongs to Elana Meyers Taylor. In her third race back after concussion symptoms sidelined her, the American came into the second run in second, but only by .03 ahead of Humphries. Humphries was just a hair quicker than Meyers Taylor in the second run, moving the American back to third by .02.

Stphanie Schneider will go into the final two heats in fourth, just ahead of American Jamie Greubel Poser.

Austrian Christina Hengster came into the World Championships as a favorite, racing on home ice. Hengster, though, crashed in her first run, setting her well back. Her second run was closer to what was expected, moving her into sixth overall going into the second day of racing.

American Katie Eberling continued a great start to her World Cup career, going into the second day of World Championships in eighth. Canadians Alysia Rissling and Christine de Bruin go into the second day of racing in 13th and 16th, respectively.
