From Whistler, CAN
(November 8, 2021) – Taylor Austin won his second straight two-man race in Whistler, taking gold in dominating fashion.
The Canadian pilot set the two fastest runs of the race on his way to a .55 second victory over Frank Del Duca of the United States.
The gold for Austin was his seventh in eight two-man NAC races.
Del Duca won silver, his third silver in four NAC two-man races. The American has only finished outside of the top five in NAC action twice, with the most recent time in 2018 (Park City).
Youngjin Suk edged out Chunjian Li for bronze.
The United States put three sleds in the top six. Geoffrey Gadbois finished fifth, just ahead of teammate Tyler Hickey in sixth.
Canada’s rookies struggled to find the speed that Austin had in his runs. Orion Edwards finished 13th in his first international start as a pilot, one spot ahead of teammate Pat Norton in 14th. Brendon Thera-Plamondon finished 16th.
