From Lillehammer, NOR

(November 12, 2021) – China swept the day’s European Cup skeleton golds, with Zheng Yin taking gold in the men’s race in Lillehammer.

Zheng was the quickest off the top, and at every split on the way down the 1994 Olympic course on his way to a .94 second victory over Germany’s Cedric Renner.

The gold for Zheng was his first in IBSF competition. His previous best finish was a silver in Calgary during the 2018/2019 North American Cup season.

Renner was alone in second place, while the battle for bronze was a tough one. China’s Haifeng Zhu tok the bronze medal, having finished only .04 ahead of Germany’s Stefan Röttig. Latvia’s Krists Netlaus finished fifth, just .07 out of bronze, while Jean Jacques Buff rounded out the top six, only .17 out of third.

Laurence Bostock was the top finishing British slider in eighth place. Rookies Ronnie Wells, Patrick Atkin, and Daniel Read finished 15th, 17th, and 19th respectively.
