Rissling Wins Tight NAC 2-Woman Opener

From Whistler, CAN

(November 12, 2021) – Alysia Rissling won an incredibly tight IBSF North American Cup two-woman bobsled opener, coming from behind to take gold.

Rissling and brakewoman Eden Wilson had the quick start in both heats, but after one run sat fourth, .23 off the pace set by the United States’ Brittany Reinbolt. On the second run Rissling set the fast time of the race, putting pressure on the remaining pilots to run. Teammate Biance Ribi was next, and she crossed the line just .01 behind Rissling.

Jamaica’s Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian was next, and came down .27 back. The final sled down was piloted by Reinbolt, and while Reinbolt was quick, she too found herself .01 behind Rissling’s time, giving Rissling the gold.

Rissling’s win was her fourth straight, after three golds in monobob action. Ribi and Reinbolt tied for silver, with Ribi’s silver her first in NAC action as a pilot.

Fenlator-Victorian finished the race in fourth, ahead of Canada’s Emily Pickett in fifth. The race was Pickett’s first IBSF international race.
