China Wins Gold, Silver in Men’s EC Skeleton

From Lillehammer, NOR

(November 13, 2021) – Zheng Yin won his second European Cup gold medal in as many days as part of a Chinese 1-2 in Lillehammer.

Yin was the quickest off the top in both heats, and led at every split along the way on his way to a .39 second victory over teammate Haifeng Zhu.

Behind Yin and Zhu, Laurence Bostock took bronze for his first medal of the 2021/2022 season. He was .26 ahead of Germany’s Cedric Renner after one heat, and while Renner was quicker on the second run, he ran out of track to make up ground, and as a result Bostock took the medal.

Renner finished fourth, .13 ahead of Switzerland’s Jean Jacques Buff in fifth. Latvia’s Krists Netlaus rounded out the top six.

British rookies Patrick Atkin and Daniel Read finished 17th and 18th, respectively, while teammate Ronnie Wells did not start the second heat after finishing the first in 19th.
