From Sigulda, Latvia
(December 11, 2021) – Germany’s Richard Oelsner came from behind in Sigulda to edge out Latvia’s Emils Cipulis.
The German team of Oelsner and Henrik Bosse trailed Cipulis and brakeman Arnis Bebriss by just .03 heading into the second heat. On the second run Oelsner and Bosse put down a strong push and the best drive of the heat to move into the lead with only Cipulis to go. While Cipulis was quick, he slipped up late and fell .06 back to finish second.
The win for Oelsner was his second two-man bobsled gold of the season, while Cipulis’s silver was his best finish of the season.
Alexey Stulnev finished third, jumping up from fourth to take bronze. He edged out Germany’s Jonas Jannusch, who fell from the medals with a rough second run.
Max Illmann and Michael Kuonen rounded out the top six.
