(January 15, 2022) – Nico Semmler beat out teammate Richard Oelsner for his first career IBSF European Cup gold medal.
Semmler’s team gave him the second quickest push of the race in both heats, and that was all he needed to drive them to the two quickest times of the race on his way to a .39 second victory over Oelsner, who took silver.
Codie Bascue, piloting the only American sled in the field, finished third on the strength of a pair of 5.14 starts, which were the two quickest of the race.
Russia’s Alexey Stulnev finished fourth, ahead of Swiss pilots Cedric Follador and Timo Rohner.
Stulnev, the longtime Russian veteran, finished the IBSF European Cup four-man season as the champion. He finished well ahead of Oelsner, the two-man champion, in second, while Cedric Follador finished the season in third.
