Deas Edges Flock to Sweep Winterberg ICC Gold

(Nov. 24, 2018) – Laura Deas edged Janine Flock by a hundredth of a second to win gold for the second straight day in Intercontinental Cup action.

Deas held a .07 second advantage over Flock going into the second heat. On that second run, Flock set the fast time of the race, putting pressure on the 2018 Olympic bronze medalist. Deas put down a great time of her own, crossing the line just .01 ahead of Flock to win her second gold in as many days.

Czechia’s Anna Fernstädt finished third on the strength of two third place runs to win bronze, while Germany’s Susanne Kreher, Belgium’s Kim Meylemans and Australia’s Jackie Narracott rounded out the top six.

Ashleigh Pittaway finished seventh to help put two British sliders in the top ten, while teammate Brogan Crowley finished 13th.

Megan Henry finished in tenth to lead the United States, while Veronica Day finished 17th and Samantha Culiver McQuade finished 20th.

Lanette Prediger was the top-scoring Canadian in 15th, one spot ahead of teammate Madi Charney, while Jaclyn LaBerge finished 19th.
