Cernanska, Brzozowski Share NAC Monobob Gold

From Park City, USA

(November 18, 2022) – Viki Cernanska and Lauren Brzozowski each won their first career IBSF senior-level gold medal with a tie for gold in the third race of the North American Cup monobob season.

Brzozowski and Cernanska not only tied with a two-heat time, but also set an identical time in both heats. Brzozowski had the faster starts in each heat, but Cernanska rallied to match the American’s time.

The gold was the first ever IBSF gold for Brzozoski. For Cernanska, it was her first gold at the senior level. She had previously won a handful of OMEGA Youth Series events in 2019.

Canada’s Eden Wilson finished with a bronze medal, while teammate Mackenzie Stewart finished fourth. It was Wilson’s first ever medal as a pilot, while Stewart’s fourth place tied her best finish in Whistler one race ago.

Sylvia Hoffman finished fifth in her IBSF NAC debut as a pilot. She had the quick start in both heats.

Canada’s Erica Voss finished sixth, with Kaysha Love rounding out the seven sled field.

Canada’s Kristen Bujnowski was registered for the race but did not start.
