Cernanska Wins Second Straight NAC Monobob Gold

From Park City, USA

(November 19, 2022) – Slovakia’s Viktoria Cernanska won her second straight IBSF North American Cup monobob gold medal, cruising to victory in Park City.

Cernanska overcame the slowest start time of both heats to drive her monobob to gold with the two fastest times of the race. She finished her first heat .2 ahead of Canada’s Mackenzie Stewart, and pulled away with her second run to finish .79 ahead of Eden Wilson, also of Canada.

The gold for Cernanska was the Slovakian’s second straight, one day after tying USA’s Lauren Brzozowski for gold.

Wilson finished with a silver medal, .2 ahead of Stewart in the bronze position. The medals were career bests for both women as pilots.

Brzozowski, who tied Cernanska for gold a day ago, finished in fourth place, .05 ahead of teammate Sylvia Hoffman in fifth. USA put three sleds in the top six with Kaysha Love scoring a sixth place finish.

Canada’s Erica Voss finished seventh.

With the North American Cup monobob season already halfway over, Lauren Brzozowski leads Mackenzie Stewart by 98 points, with Viktoria Cernanska third overall. Of the three, Brzozowski is the only athlete to score four finishes on the season thus far.
