From Igls, AUT

(December 10, 2022) – Maureen Zimmer won her first career women’s bobsled race, edging out France’s Margot Boch for gold in a one-heat race.

Boch and Carla Senechal took second place, easily out-pacing China’s Qing Ying for silver, with Ying taking bronze. Ying and Yu Wang had the second quickest start of the race, .06 off of the time set by the Germans.

Switzerland’s Martina Fontanive finished fourth, with Germany’s Diana Filipszki fifth. China’s Mingming Huai finished sixth.

USA’s Sylvia Hoffman and brakewoman Hannah Gaskins finished 13th in their first ever start in European Cup action.

Great Britain started four sleds in the race, with Nikki McSweeney leading the way in 14th. Adele Nicoll finished one spot back in 15th, while Mica Moore and Charlotte Longden finished 17th and 18th, respectively.

The race was cut to one heat due to heavy snow falling in Igls.
