Lölling Cruises to Pyeongchang ICC Victory

From Pyeongchang, KOR

(December 17, 2022) – Jacqueline Lölling returned to the track where she won an Olympic silver medal to win gold in the fifth Intercontinental Cup race of the 2022/2023 season.

Lölling opened up a .28 second advantage over teammate Corinna Leipold and Great Britain’s Amelia Coltman after the first heat. On the second run Leipold edged out Coltman to take the lead with Lölling to come.

Lölling’s second run was as good as her first, and plenty enough to take gold as she won by .44 over Leipold.

It was Lölling’s third straight gold medal on the ICC tour and fifth straight to start the ICC season.

Leipold took silver, her third straight and fourth straight medal, while Coltman won her second straight bronze medal.

Sarah Wimmer helped put all three German sleds in the top four. Laura Vargas of Columbia scored her first career ICC top five with a fifth place result.

Belgium’s Aline Pelckman rounded out the top six.

Michelle Toukan finished seventh, a career-best in ICC competition and her best ever finish outside of the United States.

Liechtenstein’s Katharina Eigenmann finished eighth, ahead of Canada’s Grace Dafoe, who finished ninth in her first ever race in Asia.
