Bierast & Claus Win Women’s Doubles in Bludenz

(December 17, 2022) – Lilly Bierast and Leandra Claus edged out teammates Sarah-Marie Pflaume and Lina Peterseim by .012 to win gold in Bludenz.

Pflaume and Peterseim carried a .001 lead over Bierast and Claus into the second heat. That second heat was nearly as tight as the first. Latvia’s Arta Pole and Agnija Bogdanova set the quick time of the second heat, and enough to get the duo within a second of the Germans.

Bierast and Claus then easily slid into the lead with only Pflaume and Peterseim to go. Pflaume and Peterseim crossed the line into second place, but only .012 back.

Latvia’s Pole and Bogdanova finished third, just under a second back. Ukraine’s Svitlana Solovei and Anna-Mariia Hartsula finished fourthahead of USA’s Goldie iller and Haidyn Bunker in fifth. Zusanna Jedrzejayk and Zusanna Pieron rounded out the six teams to finish.

USA’s Margaret Richardson and Adeline Albert crashed on their first run and did not finish.
