Jäger & Steudte Edge Rinks & Jegorovs For Bludenz Gold

(January 21, 2023) – Germany’s Moritz Jäger and Valentin Steudte held off a charge by Latvia’s Kaspars Rinks and Vitalijs Jegorovs to win gold in the Junior World Cup finale.

The German duo was quickest in the first heat ahead of the Latvian team. On the second run Rinks and Jegorovs set the quick time of the race to move into the lead with Jäger and Steudte to go. The Germans weren’t quite as quick as the Latvians, but were quicker than their first run and had enough in the bank to win gold, their fourth of the season.

With their win, Jäger and Steudte won the overall title, 90 points ahead of Rinks and Jegorovs.

The American duo of Marcus Mueller and Ansel Haugsjaa finished with a bronze medal, about .4 out of the lead. The bronze medal was their fifth of the season. Coupled with a silver in Lillehammer, the Americans medaled in every race during the 2022/2023 season.

Germany’s Pascal Kunze and Maddox Götze finished the race in fourth, ahead of Latvia’s Raimonds Baltgalvis and Krisjanis Bruns in fifth. The American team of Aidan Mueller and Frank Ike rounded out the top six in the race.
