Vötter & Oberhofer Edge Degenhardt & Rosenthal in Altenberg

From Altenberg, GER

(February 4, 2023) – Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer came from behind to edge Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal in Altenberg.

The Italian duo trailed the Germans by a tenth of a second going into the second heat. Vötter and Oberhofer’s second start was a new track record, and their slide was nearly perfect as they slid to a track record 42.736. Degenhardt and Rosenthal answered with a slide that, while quick, couldn’t match the time set by the Italians. Their combined downtime was just .051 off the pace of Vötter and Oberhofer, which gave them silver behind the Italians’ gold.

Well back in third was Austria’s Selina Egle and Lara Kipp who, like the Latvians in the men’s doubles race, were well ahead of anyone behind them.

Latvia’s Anda Upite and Sanija Ozolina finished fourth, ahead of Italy’s Nadia Falkensteiner and Annalena Huber. USA’s Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby finished sixth.

USA’s Maya Chan and Reannyn Weiler finished eighth.

With four races left in the World Cup season, Vötter and Oberhofer have a 85 point lead over Egle and Kipp. Degenhardt and Rosenthal are third, with Americans Forgan and Kirkby fourth.
