Boch Wins 2-woman EC Finale, Filipszki Wins Title

From Winterberg, GER

(February 18, 2023) – Margot Boch concluded an outstanding 2022/2023 season with another victory in the European Cup as she won the final race of the season in two-woman bobsled.

Boch once again had a great push, this time with Carla Senechal, that plus a great slide at the bottom part of the course put her into the lead from the ninth starting spot in the one-heat race.

Nobody else could catch the French slider as she won her fourth two-woman European Cup race in five attempts.

Behind Boch, Free Walker and Sarah Blizzard had a strong push as Walker slid the pair to silver, while Maureen Zimmer won another medal with a bronze effort.

Nicole Vogt finished fourth for the second straight race, tying a best ever finish in Europe. Germany’s Diana Filipszki finished fifth, while Romania’s Georgeta Popescu finished sixth.

Sylvia Hoffman finished ninth to put two American sleds in the top ten, while Riley Compton and Macy Tarlton had a strong push on their way to an 11th place finish.

With her fifth place finish, Diana Filipszki won the season title on the European Cup, ahead of Georgeta Popescu. Margot Boch, who missed two races mid-season, finished the season in third.
