Nolte trailed Walker going into the second heat, with Lisa Buckwitz back in third. On the second run Nolte set the quick time of the heat to slide into the lead with only Walker, the previous race winner, to go.

Walker’s second run was quick, but a bit bumpy late as she fell behind the defending monobob world champion into second place.

Nolte’s win was her second in Lake Placid monobob action this season after a gold medal in the World Cup earlier in the season. Walker’s silver and Buckwitz’s bronze was their second straight medals each.

Riley Compton led the charge for the United States with a fourth place finish, one spot ahead of teammate Lauren Brzozowski. Kristen Bujnowski of Canada rounded out the top six.

USA’s Sylvia Hoffman and Jamaica’s Rushana Mills rounded out the field.

With her fifth place finish, Lauren Brzozowski won the North American Cup title, ahead of Mackenzie Stewart and Viktória Čerňanská, who finished second and third overall.
