World Cup Sliding Schedules Released

From the Home Office in Durham, USA

(April 20, 2023) – On Thursday, the IBSF released their schedule for the 2023/2024 World Cup season that will see their traditional eight races plus a World Championships scattered across three continents.

The season will kick off in mid-November on the 2022 Olympic track in Yanqing. The tour will then take a couple weeks off to get over to Europe, where the tour will return to La Plagne for the first time since the 2019/2020 season. Igls will host the final race of 2023.

After an extended Christmas break, St. Moritz will host before the tour makes its way to Norway for the first ever combined bobsled and skeleton World Cup race in Norway. Sigulda and Altenberg round out the pre-World Championships portion of the schedule.

World Championships are set to be held in Winterberg in the more traditional “end of February, beginning of March” time. After that, the tour will make its way to Lake Placid for the final World Cup race of the season, and the final World Cup race on the track prior to the 2025 World Championships.

In March the FIL had released their World Cup schedule. Their tour will kick off in Lake Placid at the beginning of December before heading to the home of the 2025 World Championships in Whistler.

After a break for the holidays, FIL goes to Winterberg and Oberhof prior to the World Championships. Altenberg will host the World Champs at the end of January, then host another World Cup event one week later.

After a stop in Igls, the tour goes back to Oberhof for a second race before finishing the season with two dates in Sigulda.

Schedules for the IBSF European and North American tours, as well as the FIL Junior World Cup and Youth events are expected later in the summer.

The FIL Natural Track World Cup schedule will be released later in the summer as well.
