From Winterberg, GER
(December 15, 2023) – Corinna Leipold edged out teammate Viktoria Hansova as part of a sweep of the top five in Winterberg.
Leipold trailed Viktoria Dönicke after one run by .16, with Hansova just .03 out of the lead after one run.
In the second heat Leipold set the quick downtime of the race to take the lead. Neither Hansova nor Dönicke could match her effort as Leipold took gold for the first time this season.
Leipold hasn’t missed a top six since a tenth place finish in the Intercontinental Cup in January of 2019.
Hansova finished second, while Hanna Staub moved up from fourth to finish third.
Dönicke and Stefanie Votz finished out the German sweep of the top five.
Siji Song of China finished sixth, .88 off of the lead, and the only woman in the top seven who was not German.
Great Britain’s Isabella Fassnidge finished eighth, up from 10th in the first heat, while teammate Ashlyn Bland finished ninth.
Grace Dafoe finished 12th in her first trip to Winterberg since December of 2019. Teammate Tirza Lara finished 19th in her first ever race outside of North America.
Michelle TOukan finished 13th for the United States, up from 14th in the first heat.
