Kim Wins Lake Placid NAC Finale

From Lake Placid, USA

(March 10, 2024) – South Korea completed a sweep of the final two races of the four-man bobsled North American Cup season in Lake Placid with a gold on Sunday by Jinsu Kim.

Kim’s team gave him the quick start of the first heat, .01 ahead of USA’s Kris Horn and his squad. Kim matched that with a slide that was .16 ahead of the previous day’s silver medalist Edson Bindilatti and .17 ahead of Horn.

In the second heat Horn’s team gave him the quick start of the heat, and Horn matched it with a slide that was quick enough to take the lead and hold it after Bindilatti fell behind by .04.

But neither Horn nor Bindilatti were any match for Kim. Despite a slightly slower push than his first effort, Kim had the best slide of the heat again to take gold by .4 over Horn.

Kim’s victory came a day after Youngjin Suk’s victory with the same push team. It was Kim’s third gold medal as a pilot on the NAC tour.

Horn’s silver was third medal of of the NAC four-man season, while Bindilatti’s bronze was his fourth straight four-man medal.

Germany’s Max Illmann finished fourth, .19 out of the medals, while Geoff Gadbois took fifth. Canada’s Jay Dearborn and Monaco’s Boris Vain rounded out the seven sleds in the race.
