From Winterleiten, AUT
(February 18, 2024) – As she has throughout the 2023/2024 FIL World Cup season, and the season before that for that matter, Evelin Lanthaler dominated the season finale in Winterleiten to take gold.
Lanthaler had the quick time in both heats on her way to a 1.72 second victory over the tour’s top junior Riccarda Ruetz, who slid to a silver medal o home ice.
Tina Unterberger took bronze.
Lanthaler’s combined time of 2:07.10 would have been enough to win bronze in the men’s race.
Lisa Walch threw down the second quickest run of the second heat to slide to fourth place, ahead of Nadine Staffler and Hannah Nagele, who rounded out the top six.
Katie Cookman finished tenth, two spots ahead of Canada’s Nadja Loder in 12th.
Lanthaler had clinched the season title before the race finale. Ruetz had also solidified her second place finish a race early. Tina Unterberger finished the season in third, just ahead of Walch and Jenny Castiglioni, who rounded out the top five.
