Hannighofer Leads German EC Podium Sweep

(November 25, 2025) – Hans Peter Hannighofer edged out teammate Maximilian Illmann as part of a German sweep of the top four four-man spots in Lillehammer.

Hannifhofer’s team gave him the quick start in each heat. In the first, he and his team slid to a race-quickest 49.91 downtime to take a .06 lead over Illmann’s squad.

In the second heat, Illmann slid to the lead ahead of teammate Laurin Zern with only Hannighofer to go. Hannighofer’s team out-pushed Illmann’s by .01, and Hannighofer matched Illmann’s slide split-by-split, and at the finish line had a .04 lead to take gold, ahead of Illmann, Zern, and Alexander Czudaj as part of a German sweep of the top four spots.

Switzerland had the final two spots of the top six with Nils Reich and Kilian Rohn in fifth and sixth.
