Germany’s Lisa Buckwitz took the lead in the first heat, with Austria’s Kati Beierl looking for her second straight medal in second. USA’s Elana Meyers Taylor sat third on the hunt for her best finish of the season.

Kaillie Armbruster Humphries put down a strong second run in the second heat to tie Melanie Hasler and move up from eighth to challenge the leaders. Neither Cynthia Appiah or Margot Boch could match Humphries and Hasler as the duo slid to the top six.

Laura Nolte sat fifth after the first heat, but put down a strong second run to take the lead from Humphries and Hasler, but was edged out by Walker, who held the lead with the top three to go.

After Meyers Taylor had a bumpy second run to fall behind Walker and Nolte, Beierl had a bit of a bumpy run herself to fall behind Walker and Nolte with just Buckwitz to go.

Buckwitz, who was on the hunt for her ninth gold medal, had the quickest start fo the race and early on was up ahead of Walker. But like the other medal contenders before her had trouble later in her run. She crossed the finish line in fourth, .06 behind Beierl, with Walker winning gold.

It was Walker’s seconds straight gold and fifth of her career. The Australian has 15 World Cup medals in monobob.

Nolte took silver and Beierl bronze, her second straight medal in monobob.

Buckwitz was fourth, Meyers Taylor fifth, and the duo of Hasler and Armbruster Humphries tied for sixth.

Cyunthia Appiah took eighth as the top Canadian, with teammates Kristen Bujnowski 12th and Melissa Lotholz 18th.

Kaysha Love was tenth for the United States.

With three races remaining in the World Cup season, Nolte leads Walker and Buckwitz in the World Cup standings. Hasler is fourth, with Love fifth.
