From Umhausen, AUT
(February 6, 2026) – Tobias Paur and Andreas Hofer threw down a dominating run in Umhausen to win their first gold of the 2025/2026 World Cup season.
The one heat doubles race kicked off with Gabriel and Samuel Halcin putting down a respectable 1:22.16, but were quickly picked off by Paur and Hofer, who had a mistake late in their run but still put had enough to take a .91 second lead over the Halcins.
Maxmilian Pichler and Nico Edlinger, racing on their home track in Austria, were off next. The duo were a tenth back at the first timing line and fell behind at one point by nearly a half of a second. But they rallied late, and closed the gap to a tenth as they crossed the line into second place.
The final team off were Matthias and Peter Lambacher, the new European champions. They trailed by .05 early, but had a tough run as they finished third for bronze.
The race took place in warmer conditions, and the track was wetter than normal.
“It was very special conditions on the track, but we were able to adapt well to the wet surface,” Paur said after the race.
With one race weekend remaining in the World Cup season, Lambacher and Lambacher lead Paur and Hofer by just ten points, and Pichler and Edlinger third, just 15 points back.
