From Cortina d’Ampezzo, ITA
(February 15, 2026) – Matt Weston won his second gold medal of the week and Tabitha Stoecker her first Olympic medal as the duo slid to gold in the first ever Olympic Skeleton Mixed Team event.
USA’s Mystique Ro and Austin Florian, the reigning world champions, took the lead from China’s Yuxin Liang and Qinwei Lin then held their spot briefly ahead of South Korea’s Sujung Hong and Seunggi Jung.
The Americans were then edged out by Italy’s Alessandra Fumagalli and Amedeo Bagnis, whose lead only lasted one team with China’s Dan Zhao and Wenhao Chen taking over.
After a false start by Janine Flock sank her and Samy Maier’s chances at a medal, Great Britain’s Freya Tarbit and Marcus Wyatt took over at the top of the leaderboard. But that lead was also short-lived, as 2026 women’s and men’s skeleton silver medalists Susanne Kreher and Axel Jung took over, and then held off teammate Jacqueline Pfeifer and Christopher Grotheer by just a hundredth of a second.

The final team off were Stoecker and Weston. Stoecker took a conservative start with a .3 reaction time, but slid to within .18 of Kreher’s time, leaving the race in the hands of Weston.
Weston’s reaction time was the quickest of the race, .01 quicker than Jungk’s. But a quicker start time put him ahead off the top and gave him a lead he would not relinquish as he crossed the finish line .17 ahead of the Germans for his second gold medal of the Olympics.
Germany’s Kreher and Jungk were silver, with Pfeifer and Grotheer bronze.
Tarbit and Wyatt were fourth, Zhao and Chen fifth, and Fumagalli and Bagnis sixth.
Ro and Florian were seventh, with teammates Kelly Curtis and Dan Barefoot tenth.
Canada’s Jane Channell and Josip Brusic were 15th.
