2014 Olympics – Double’s Luge

From Sochi, Russia

It’s another luge gold medal for Germany, this time in double’s luge.  The team of Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt set a track record in their first heat and cruised to victory by a half-second over the Austrian duo of Andreas Linger and Wolfgang Linger.  Andris Sics and Juris Sics of Latvia took third after the Austrian team of Peter Penz and Gregor Fischler crashed on their second run.

Canadian Duo Tristan Walker and Justin Snith couldn’t quite make their way into medal position, being out-paced by .05, settling for fourth, while the Russian team of Denisyev and Antonov took fifth.

The United States couldn’t back up female slider Erin Hamlin’s historic run.  The team of Niccum / Terdiman finished 11th, while Mortensen / Griffall scored 14th.
