FIL Luge – Women’s Luge – Race 2

From Lake Placid, USA

Germany’s Natalie Geisenberger took gold today in the second race of the FIL World Cup.  Geisenberger set the fast time in both runs, easily taking gold (her second in two races) from American Erin Hamlin.  Hamlin, sliding on home ice, came into the second run out of the medals, but a very quick run moved her up into the silver medal position. Tatjana Hüfner dropped one spot after the first run, from second to third, making it two bronze medals so far this season for Hüfner.

Germany and the United States swept the top eight spots, with Anke Wischnewski of Germany finishing just outside of the medals in fourth, while Emily Sweeney and Summer Britcher finished finished fifth and sixth for the United States.  USA Luge put all four athletes in the top eight, with Julia Clukey finishing eighth.
