From Altenberg, GER
Elana Meyers Taylor and Cherrelle Garrett continued their assault on start records across the world. The duo set the start record at Altenberg, and despite a bumpy run in the second heat, the Americans cruised to their third gold medal in three races in the 2014/2015 season. Elfje Willemsen takes silver, scoring the first ever World Cup medal for Belgium, while Kaillie Humphries takes yet another medal with a bronze.
“The second run was a little dodgy to say the least. When you have good starts you can make it through one of those (rough starts)”, said Elana Meyers Taylor on her gold medal run.
Cathleen Martini, on home ice, came into the second run in second, but fell back to fourth in a run where the speed just wasn’t there. American Jamie Greubel Poser overcame a disappointing first run with a very fast second run to take fifth. Teammate Jazmine Fenlator finished ninth.
World Cup rookie An Vannieuwenhuyse finished 11th in the second Belgian sled, while Mica McNeill took 12th for Great Britain.
