Full FIL World Cup to be Streamed Live

FIL to provide live-streaming of all Viessmann World Cups and World Championships for the first time

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The International Luge Federation (FIL) will provide on its website (www.fil-luge.org) live-streaming of all Viessmann World Cups and the World Championships next season, in addition to the tried and tested television coverage. “I am delighted that we are able to provide a service that has been much requested, and which represents a significant step forward in terms of the media coverage of our sport,” explained FIL President Josef Fendt. Fendt went on to say that live streaming with English-language commentary will be available all over the world with the exception of Germany and Italy.

Season opener and dress rehearsal for the 2017 World Championships,  25 nations with more than 150 athletes registered

Innsbruck (RWH) With preparations now complete and all internal team selections finalised, it is time for the new luge winter season to get underway. The Viessmann World Cup season opener is due to be staged on the Olympic track in Innsbruck, one of the most prestigious venues of all. The event on the labyrinthine ice track at the foot of the Patscherkofel will also be a dress rehearsal for the 47th International Luge Federation (FIL) World Championships in 2017. Innsbruck is set to stage the FIL championships for a fifth time, in keeping with a ten-year cycle (1977, 1987, 1997 and 2007).

More than 150 athletes from a total of 25 nations (ARG, AUS, AUT, BEL, BIH, BRA, BUL, CAN, CRO, CZE, GBR, GER, ITA, JPN, KOR, LAT, POL, ROU, RUS, SLO, SUI, SVK, TPE, UKR, USA) registered over a year in advance for the 39th World Cup season since the inaugural event back in 1977/1978. Viessmann has been the main and title sponsor of the Luge World Cup since the winter of 1996/1997.

The defending champions in the Viessmann World Cup are Natalie Geisenberger, Felix Loch and Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken (all GER). This season’s schedule includes nine Viessmann World Cup in six countries, with the season highlight being the 46th FIL World Championships in Königssee from 29 to 31 January 2016.
