2015/2016 IBSF Intercontinental Cup Final Points

From the home office in Durham, USA

Below are the final points (top 10) for the Intercontinental Cup’s 2015/2016 season.

Women’s Skeleton

Katie Uhlaender had a remarkable season back from a break to get healthy, starting off with gold on home ice in Lake Placid. The American followed that up with a medal in each of the next four races, and went into Königssee needing just two average finishes. While she couldn’t score a medal in Germany, her final two finishes were both in the top seven, and were more than enough to shore up an ICC title.

Candian Lanette Prediger held pace with Uhlaender throughout the bulk of the season, but a ninth place finish in Igls cost her valuable points. Despite out-racing Uhlaender in the final two races in Germany, it wasn’t enough for Prediger to usurp Uhlaender.

Anna Fernstädt scored gold in each of the final two races of the season to jump to third overall, while Savannah Graybill and Megan Henry both had consistently solid seasons to place three Americans in the top five.

Men’s Skeleton

Germany swept the top three spots on the men’s side of the Intercontinental Cup, with Martin Rosenberger coming out on top. While arguably the least consistent of the trio, Martin Rosenberger also scored the best finishes, starting off the first half of the season with three gold medals and a silver. A slight hiccup in Igls (9th & 7th) was overcome by two bronze medals in Königssee to guarantee the top spot in the ICC.

Rosenberger’s teammates Alexander Gassner and Kilian von Schleinitz never fell out of the top six in any race over the ICC season, but failure to find the top of the podium more than once (Gassner, Lake Placid) kept the two Germans behind Rosenberger.

Canadians Evan Neufeldt and Patrick Rooney took fourth and fifth on the season, both with season-best runs on home ice in Whistler.
